A rear coil spring bump stop (or jounce bumper) is a foam or rubber cushion attached to the vehicle frame above the rear axle. It prevents suspension metal-to-metal clashing by limiting maximum upward suspension travel, acting as a final buffer to protect shocks, springs, and mounts from damage.
